Cheers of joy amidst tears of disappointment for GSAT students

Cheers of joy and tears of disappointment.

These were among the reactions at a number of schools across the Corporate Area on Thursday, as the Ministry of Education, as promised, made available the results of the much-anticipated Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT).

The release of the exam scores for Jamaica's national high school entrance test, and subsequent placements, brought relief for parents who for many months had waited with high levels of anticipation.

That eagerness would pour over on Thursday, as some parents camped out at the gates of some schools from as early as 8:00 am, waiting to find out if their nights of sitting up with children and studying had paid off.

At some schools, such as St Richard's Primary, shouts and celebrations from some parents and teachers could be heard as the scores were circulated from as early as 11.00am..
School principal, Maureen Wong was one of the individuals with a happy smile on their faces.
